The Emperor's New Clothes

Lyrics:

CHORUS
Every day the people would stop, to look at the Emperor's new clothes
Sunshine or rain they'd all stop, to look at the Emperor's new clothes
To look at the Emperor's new clothes

He wore something different every day
All of his subjects would look at him and say
'You look so fine your majesty you do'
In your yellow and your red and your green and blue

CHORUS

Two sneaky swindlers arrived one day
Went to the Emperor and they did say
We'll make you the finest clothes in the land
Which a fool can't see but wise men can

They asked for some silk and golden thread
They put up two looms and then they said
We'll spin all the day and all through the night
From dusk until dawn and the morning light

CHORUS

The Emperor sent his servants to see
If the clothes were as fine as he thought that they would be
They looked at the loom there was nothing there
'We'll have to pretend, we do not dare'

To say that we see two empty looms
And no fine clothes anywhere in the room'
But the Emperor himself was curious to see
If the clothes were as lovely as he'd been promised they would be

And when there was nothing he was aghast and amazed
But decided that the swindlers should still be praised
He pretended to be pleased and just stood there spellbound - and said
'I will wear these fine clothes when I march through the town' - well

LAST CHORUS
The people next day all stopped, to look at the Emperor's new clothes
He marched down the street, they all stopped, to look at the Emperor's - new clothes
To look at the Emperor's new clothes'
